Water Power
"To the Clady River which has clothed and fed us all in Upperlands for 240 years." (Wallace Clark)
The Clady River in full flood
Jan 2021
The Upperlands Linen Story began when just three essential factors collided: the potential energy of the Knockoneill / Clady River, the potential 'industry' of hard working locals and the entrepreneurial vision of John Clark (1675 - 1701).
While other factors undoubtedly contributed to the success of the family business, its feet were most certainly planted in the Clady's crystal mountain waters.
We have tried to arrange just a few snippets of information under the banner of "Water Power" in the hope that your appetite will have been well and truly whet.
Wallace Clark provides ALL the additional information you need in his fabulous "Linen on the Green", now in paperback.
