Upperlands, from "Linen on the Green" 1982

Wallace Clark's fifth book, "Linen on the Green"  provides the 'inside track' on the famous linen firm's development and no attempt is made here to compete with a job well done.

One of the highlights of his book is the array of illustrations and maps which punctuate the high density but readable text.

The 'Upperlands Map' borrowed from the book was drawn by Richard McCullagh.

Its acute focus upon things Clark, in many ways, sifts out the interference of other features associated with the professional maps included here.

The user can quickly grasp a sense of the expanse of Clark's activities, the scale of production and, most importantly, its reliance on water power and connections by road and rail to the outside world.
